چکیده
Subsurface storage of hydrogen, e.g. in depleted oil and gas fields (DOGF), is suggested as a means to overcome imbalances between supply demand the renewable energy sector. However, hydrogen an electron donor for subsurface microbial processes, which may have important implications recovery, injectivity corrosion. Here, we review controls on three major consuming processes subsurface, methanogenesis, homoacetogenesis, sulfate reduction, basis estimate risk growth geological storage. Evaluating our data 42 DOGF showed that five be considered sterile with respect hydrogen-consuming microorganisms due temperatures >122 °C. Only six can sustain all either temperature, salinity or pressure constraints remaining fields. We calculated potential order 1–17*10 7 cells ml −1 favorable conditions growth, reached after 0.1–19 days growing 0.2–6.6 years resting cells. The associated consumption negligible small (<0.01–3.2% stored hydrogen). Our results help inform decisions about where will future. • Review most hydrogen-oxidizing underground. Experimental investigation of Methane Partial Oxidation in Porous Media for Hydrogen Production
One of the future technologies for energy supply in the electricity and automotive industries is the use of fuel cells. Hydrogen is the main source of fuel in fuel cells. Methane reforming through partial oxidation of methane is one of the methods of hydrogen production. In this paper, this process for the production of hydrogen gas, which is the energy source of these fuel cells, is examined n...
متن کاملHydrogen storage in porous materials, current status and future challenges
Hydrogen storage in porous materials gained considerable interest, since in the past 15 years many new coordination polymers or framework materials have been synthesized, which show a permanent ultra-high porosity and an extremely large specific surface area [1-3]. Different classes of these novel highly porous structures, e.g., metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (...
متن کاملSimulation of Methane Partial Oxidation in Porous Media Reactor for Hydrogen Production
The enactment of strict laws on reducing pollution and controlling combustion has given rise to the necessity of considering a new approach to energy supply in the future. One such approach is the use of hydrogen as an alternative to fossil fuels. Hydrogen and synthesis gas are typically produced through the partial oxidation of methane in porous media. This process was theoretically simula...
متن کاملHydrogen Consumption in Bio- Hydrogen Process Modelling
Fermentation of sugars for hydrogen production has received increasing interest as a “green fuel” process. Models describing products formation from sugar fermentation has been the focus, applied to generalize anaerobic digestion models. Such models have therefore been in continuous development. Beginning from fixed stoichiometry values as in ADM1 [1] (the most common platform in anaerobic dige...
